Girls basketball roundup: Wildcats extinguish Fire

NEW LONDON — Taylor Thunstedt scored 28 points and New London-Spicer rolled past Holy Family Catholic 71-58 in a Wright County Conference game Thursday in New London.
The Wildcats, who took a 42-19 lead at the half, improved to 4-3 in the conference and 15-3 overall.
Olivia Setterberg tacked on 15 points, and Megan Thorson had 6 points and 8 rebounds. Thunstedt added 9 assists and hit three 3-pointers.
Michaela Rasmussen led HFC (4-5, 8-12) with 25 points.
The Wildcats next play today at Mound Westonka.

The Dragons (2-7, 9-8) nearly rallied from an 18-point deficit, but they couldn’t get pull ahead after getting within one seven minutes into the second half. Litchfield stayed within a couple of possessions down the stretch, but Delano made its free throws to hand the Dragons their sixth loss in their last seven games.
Greta Walsh had 14 points, Kelsey Wattenhofer 8 and Kelsey Fisher 7 for Litchfield. Fisher and Walsh both added 6 rebounds while Walsh also chipped in 5 steals and 3 assists.
Delano’s Katie Emmer with 20 points and Alex Wittinger 19 nearly outscored the Dragons by themselves.
