NEW LONDON — New London-Spicer went on a 15-3 run in the final 7 minutes to pull away and beat Watertown-Mayer 53-38 on Friday.

Taylor Thunstedt scored 26 points, 10 steals and 7 assists to lead the Wildcats, who improved to 6-1 overall.

Megan Thorson and Olivia Setterberg had 8 points each, and Ashlyn Geister scored 6 points with 7 rebounds.

The Wildcats shot 46 percent from the field including 6-for-16 from three-point range — 5 from Thunstedt and 1 from Petra Lothert. 

NLS next plays Tuesday when it hosts Annandale in a Wright County Conference matchup.

LITCHFIELD — A back-and-forth game for the first 26 minutes suddenly turned Becker’s way Friday as the Bulldogs used a late 25-12 run to upend Litchfield 74-61 in a non-conference game.

The Bulldogs led 27-26 at halftime and the game was tied at 49-49 with 10 minutes remaining. But sparked by Mauren Thiesen, Becker ended the game outscoring the Dragons by 13.

Thiesen finished with 26 points as both squads had three players score in double figures. Pacing Litchfield in the scoring column were Kyndra Beavers with 16, Mariah Hoff 14 and Macy Huhner 13. Tasha Stubeda grabbed a team-high 7 rebounds for the Dragons.

The Wolverines broke a six-game losing streak with a non-conference win over the Owls Friday in Clara City.

MACCRAY led 42-28 late in the second half and held off a Hancock rally down the stretch.

Alicia Ervin led the Wolverines with 16 points and Emily Orwick had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists. Ervin had 4 steals

Lexi Steege had a game-high 18 points for the Owls and Karol Algarate finished with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Steege also had 5 steals.

Minnewaska, which scored the game’s first 8 points, owned a 30-23 lead at halftime. Paynesville then went on a tear to open the second half, going on a 13-0 run to take a 36-30 lead. But the Bulldogs had problems making baskets down the stretch, allowing the Lakers to pick up the win.

Bayley Pooler had 17 points, Madison Phillips 15 and Carley Stewart 12 to pace the Lakers. Pooler canned 5 of the team’s 8 three-pointers.

Kayla Schaefer had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, Tayler Burg added 13 points and 7 rebounds, and Rian Lee chipped in 8 points and 7 rebounds for Paynesville.
