NEW LONDON — The undefeated New London-Spicer Wildcats rolled past Morris/Chokio-Alberta 51-28 on Thursday in a non-conference game.

Taylor Thunstedt had 19 points, including 4 of the Wildcats’ 10 three-pointers. She also had 4 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals.

Lydia Kieft added 11 points, 5 rebounds and hit 3 treys.

Beth Holland paced the Tigers (5-3) with 8 points and 7 rebounds.

NLS next plays Heritage Christian on Dec. 28 at New London.

The Tigers are off until Jan. 4 when they play a home game against Paynesville.

Renville County West had the lead down to three late in the game but couldn’t catch the Cardinals in a non-conference game on Thursday in Redwood Fall.

RCW’s Sadie Treml scored 15 points and Molly Elliot added 10 for the Jaguars.

Bryanna Burg drained a three-pointer with two minutes remaining to put Paynesville (2-0, 6-2) ahead for good. Burg made two treys on the night and finished with a game-high 14 points for the conference co-leading Bulldogs.

Erika Schlangen and Kayla Schaefer added 12 points each.

Emily Goerdt ignited the Dutchmen (1-2, 1-5) with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Shelby Uphoff added 13 points and 6 rebounds while Tayler Reller collected 7 points and 6 assists.

Becca Gruber led the Jaguars (0-3, 2-7) with 10 points and 8 rebounds, and Brittany Roelike added 7 points and 4 rebounds.

The Jaguars are off until Jan. 4 when they travel to Eden Valley-Watkins for a Central Minnesota Conference game.

Alexa Nissen’s fourth 3-pointer of the game with 5 seconds left lifted the Braves to a one-point win.

Benson trailed 61-59 when Nissen struck from the side of the key beyond the arc.

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, which trailed 28-25 at half, desperation shot at the horn was not close.

Emma Peterson finished with 20 points, Nissen 17, Hannah Ricard 12 and Krista Motzko 11 to account for all but one Braves’ basket. Peterson also shagged 11 rebounds.

The Falcons’ Sydney Larson had 17 of her game-high 24 points by halftime. Erica Melbie was right behind with 21 points with four 3-pointers plus 6 assists.

The game was tied 54-all at the end of regulation.

Minnewaska’s defense shut down the Sting in the second half, helping the Lakers erase a five-point halftime deficit on Thursday night in Glenwood.

Bayley Pooler and Sydney Joos both scored 11 points for the Lakers. Joos also had 7 rebounds.

YME’s Chyanne Sand led the Sting with 11 points and 9 rebounds, and Kelly Anderson scored a game-high 12 points.
