Girls basketball roundup: Willmar rocks St. Cloud Apollo

ST. CLOUD — The Willmar girls basketball team shook off a poor first half and doubled their point production in the second half to down St. Cloud Apollo 54-23 in a Central Lakes Conference game Friday.

“We had trouble hitting free throws in the first half,” said Cardinal head coach Dustin Carlson. “But we started getting some easy looks at the basket in the second half and started hitting our free throws.”

Kaitlynn Kienholz led the Cardinals with 14 points and 7 rebounds, and Jordan Martins finished with 10 points.

Kalley Fosso had 7 points and Lexi Orlowski scored 6 points and pulled down 7 boards.

The Cardinals play next at Rocori at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Cold Spring.
