"We were dominated the first half, but I was really pleased with the way we went for loose balls and showed some real toughness."

Junior guard Taylor Thunstedt debuted with 39 points. The fourth-year started made 10 of 24 shots from the field (6 of 15 on treys) and went 13 of 16 at the line.

Next for the Cats came Brianna Fredrick with 7 as just four players scored for the winners.

NLS was up 16-11 before the Eagles took over and closed out the half leading 29-21, scoring the final 8 points of the opening half.

But Thunstedt and the Cats roared out of the locker room and put up 15 straight points to grab a 36-29 lead. The Eagles were held to 11 points the second half by the Wildcats' no-frills but often suffocating 2-3 zone.

Holly Schumacher, a 5-6 senior guard, led the

Eagles with 13 points. Six-foot center Dani Nelson was good for 12 points and 9 rebounds.

The Wildcats begin their December all non-conference crusade at Howard Lake-Waverly on Friday and conclude it on Dec. 28-29 by hosting the famed WildCard Tournament.
