Girls basketball: Wildcats scorch Dragons

NEW LONDON — Taylor Thunstedt got her usual 26 points and Olivia Setterberg worked inside for 17 points as New London-Spicer beat Litchfield 59-45 in a battle of unbeaten.
The Dragans got 20 points from Greta Walsh, 12 from Hannah Norlin, plus 14 rebounds, and 10 points and 11 rebounds by Kristin Klaben.
The Dragons trailed 31-19. They played without senior 5-foot-10 forward Kelsey Fischer, who reportedly out up to six weeks with an ankle injury.
Bailey Koch, a 6-1 senior forward, saw only limited action and didn’t score. She has been ill.
The win was the Wildcats debut in their new home, the Wright County West and pushed their record to 6-0 overall.
The Cats host Morris/Chokio-Alberta on Thursday before setting their sights on the WildCats tourney at New London Dec. 28-29.
