Girls Hockey: Alexandria stops MBA win streak in 6A semis semifinals

ALEXANDRIA -- Alexandria's Michelle Anez scored the first goal and the last goal of the Section 6A semifinal match, lifting the Cardinals to a 5-4 overtime win over Morris/Benson Area in girls hockey action Tuesday.
The loss ended a 12-game winning streak for Morris/Benson Area (19-5). Alexandria beat the Storm 3-2 on Nov. 22 in Alexandria.
Anez scored the only goal of the first period, but the Storm surged for three goals in the second. Sam Falk scored 18 seconds into the frame, followed by Katia Vantries and Dani Staples.
But Alexandria answer-ed with three straight of its own to take a 4-3 lead.
It took a power play goal from Falk with 3:43 left in the game to force overtime, where Anez beat Storm goalie Brooke Falk just 49 seconds in. Brooke Falk had 26 saves.
