Girls hockey: Cardinals clip Otters

FERGUS FALLS — Shelby Schneider picked up the puck in front of the Fergus Falls net and beat goalie Jordie Salwei with a back-hand shot to lead the Willmar girls hockey team to a 3-2 comeback win over the Otters in a Central Lakes Conference game on Thursday.
The Cardinals, who trailed by a goal after two periods, tied the game on Annie Johnston’s goal at 4:36 of the third period, and Schneider scored the game-winner less than 30 seconds later.
Willmar goalie Maddie Sandberg made 26 stops, and Lauren Sing got the Cardinals on the board with a goal at 3:42 of the first period.
The Cardinals, now 2-7-1 in the league and 10-8-1 overall, play at Wadena/Deer Creek at 7 p.m. today.
