Girls hockey: LDC blanks Storm

BENSON — Kennedy Sommerfeld netted a hat trick and Teegan Wyffels collected five points behind three assists and two goals Tuesday to help Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato shut out Morris/Benson Area 9-0 in a non-conference game.
Abby Roediger needed to make just eight saves to post the shutout for LDC (8-9-2). The Dragons scorched the nets for 49 shots, including 22 in the second period.
Katrina Impola, Wyffels, Sommerfeld and Wyffels again lit the lamp in the first period to give LDC a 4-0 lead after 17 minutes of play. Sommerfeld then netted two goals in the second period.
Sarah Kivisto scored twice and Emma Ridgeway added another goal in a three-goal third stanza for the Dragons.
