Girls hockey: Otters shut out Cardinals 4-0

WILLMAR — Fergus Falls’ Stephanie Kolstad scored 15 seconds into the game and the Otters blanked the Willmar Cardinals 4-0 on Tuesday in Willmar.
“Fergus Falls came to ready to play,” Willmar head coach JaColby Anderson said. “They won races to the puck and they were taking a lot of shots on net.”
The Otters made 47 shots with Willmar goalie Madison Sandberg saving 43 of them.
“Madi had a heck of a game,” Anderson said. “She’s the reason the game was close.”
Kolstad scored again in the second period, as did Sydney Kuehl, and Lauren Norgren put in the Otters’ fourth goal at 1:14 in the third period.
The Cardinals fell to 0-3 in the Central Lakes Conference and 5-3 overall. They play River Lakes on Thursday in Paynesville.
