MARSHALL — Willmar scored five goals in the second period and the Cardinals notched their second win 5-0 over Marshall on Thursday.

After a scoreless first period, Willmar’s Annie Johnston put one in at 2:21 in the second.

Miranda Roelofs followed with two goals at 4:44 and 5:52, and Jordan Sankey and Brooke Oveson also scored for the Cards.

“We definitely outworked them the whole game,” Cardinals’ head coach JaColby Anderson said.

“The goals all just happened to come in the second. The girls skated hard. it was a well deserved win.”

Goalie Johnika Wodash saved 14-for-14 of Marshall’s shots on goal. 

The Cardinals’ only other win of the season was 13-0 over Morris/Benson Area on Nov. 29.

Willmar next plays Dec. 12 at Alexandria.
