Both teams were winless in Central Lakes games, so the win gets the Cardinals (1-8, 5-17-1) off the bottom with only today’s game at Paynesville against River Lakes left on their regular-season schedule.

Shelby Schneider and Annie Johnston, playing on an adjusted front line with  Miranda Roelofs, each scored a pair of goals raising each to 10 points produced in the last five contests.

Sophomore defender Mikala Erickson got her first varsity goal and so did Natasha Turrubiates, an eighth-grade forward.

Erickson’s unassisted power-play goal at 3:47 of the first frame opened the scoring. Riley Schneider, playing on the second line, with Kierra Miller and Jordan Sankey, scored in the third period when freshman Brooke Oveson   also scored.

“We were able to skate three lines and five defensemen because there was no JV game,” said Cardinals’ head coach JaColby Anderson.

Johnika Wodash saved 22 of 24 shots she faced from the Warriors/Flyers, who finish the regular season 0-13 in the CLC and 2-21 overall.
