MARSHALL -- Willmar's defense made Baylie Young's night pretty easy.

The Cardinals' goalie had to only face six shots on goal as Willmar beat Marshall 5-1 in a non-conference girls hockey game Tuesday.

The defense was so tight in the third period that it didn't even allow a Tiger shot on goal.

On the offensive side, the Cardinals started sluggishly, though Erin Sheehan scored the first of her two goals less than two minutes into the start of the game.

"We came out flat, changed up the lines and got a lot of shots on goal in the third period," Willmar coach Chad Akerson said.

The Cardinals popped three goals in for the third period. Sheehan got her second and Ali Sing scored the last two. Brooke Mayer, a freshman, scored her first varsity goal in the second.
