Girls swimming & diving: Brainerd swims past Willmar

BRAINERD -- The Willmar Cardinals went 1-2 in the opening event but didn't pick up their second win until the final individual event in a 107-78 loss to the Brainerd Warriors in a Central Lakes Conference dual meet on Thursday.

"I hope we swim better at True Team," said coach Carl Shuldes, referring to the section meet that the Cardinals will host on Saturday. "We were just flat to night."

Miranda Kuchta, sisters Alycia and Kennedy Holwerda and Rose Jackson won the 200 Medley Relay in 2:01.97.

Alycia Holwerda won the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.64.

True team section swim events are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the high-school pool.
