Girls tennis: Cards blank Otters

WILLMAR -- The Willmar Cardinals steamrolled Fergus Falls 7-0 on a sunny and breezy Tuesday to conclude the regular season.

Willmar finishes 7-4 in the Central Lakes, good for third place. The Cards will take a 13-5 overall record to the team playoffs in Section 8AA-South.

Willmar is the 2-seed behind St. Cloud Tech. The Cardinals will play No. 7 Sartell at 5 p.m. on Thursday at Golds Gym on the northwest edge of St. Cloud.

Willmar has won four straight. Thursday's winner will play the Monticello vs. Little Falls winner at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

No. 1 singles Gabi Bierbuam bounced back from a 3-6 loss to win 6-3, 6-3.

At 1-doubles, Heather Horning/Kassy Linbo trailed 1-4 second set but rallied for a 6-0, 6-4 win.

In 8AA-North, Bemidji is No. 1 and Alexandria No. 2.
