Girls tennis: Lakers send three to state tourney
SARTELL -- Minnewaska will send a singles player and a doubles team to the Class A state tournament.
Minnewaska's Ellen Stensrud fell to Osakis' Taylor Kraemer 6-4, 6-2 in the Section 6A singles championship on Tuesday at the Fitness Evolution club.
The top two section singles players and doubles teams qualify for the state tournament.
Grace Brang, of Melrose, defeated Kraemer's Osakis teammate, Lauren Silbernik, 6-1, 6-0 in the third-place match.
In the section doubles championship, the Lakers' Rachel Riley and MaKenna Hanson lost in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8, to Parkers Prairie's Brenna Warren and Renee Warren.
Madison Rausch and Michaela Worms of Melrose took third place with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Hannah Baker and Alexa Hoffarth of Osakis.
