PINE CITY — The Litchfield girls tennis team won two of three matches at the Pine City Quadrangular on Tuesday.

The Dragons defeated Pine City 4-3 and South St. Paul 5-2 but lost to Mounds Park Academy 4-3.

Laney Huhner was 3-0 at 4-singles and Shanna Kinny and Natalie Nelson both won two singles matches.

Litchfield’s 1-doubles team of Kennedy Sommerfeld and Kaley Spreiter won all three of their matches.

The Dragons are 2-1 and play host to a quadrangular with Simley, Rogers and Hutchinson at 9 a.m. today.

NLS falls twice

NEW LONDON — The New London-Spicer tennis team dropped a pair of matches at a triangular Tuesday.

The Wildcats fell to Benson 5-2 and were blanked by Becker 7-0.

MacKenzie Loftness and Taylor Bengtson won singles matches against Benson. The Braves’ Maggie Buyck won at 1-singles, Kellie Enderson – Benson’s lone two-match winner – won at 4-singles. The Braves also swept doubles against the Wildcats.

In the third match, Becker defeated Benson 6-1

The Wildcats play against Willmar and Hutchinson on Thursday in Willmar.

Hutchinson and Willmar play at 9 a.m., followed by Hutch vs. NLS at 11 a.m. The Wildcats and Cardinals square off at 1 p.m.

Benson plays a quadrangular at 11 a.m. Friday in Long Prairie-Grey Eagle. The quad includes Little Falls and Osakis.
