Girls tennis roundup: Cards rough up Rocori

COLD SPRING — The Cardinals moved into fourth place in the Central Lakes with the 5-2 win over Rocori, worth two-points in the standings.

Both teams are 3-4 in the CLC.

Willmar (5-8) plays next at Alexandria (4-2, 13-4).

The Cards picked up three points at singles and two more at pairs against the Spartans.

NEW LONDON — The New London-Spicer Wildcats outhit MACCRAY 5-2 on Tuesday.

The Cats were coming off a fine showing at the Mankato Invite on Saturday where they placed fourth.

Lisa Doubbelaire, Abby Nelson and Taylor Bengstson picked up points at singles. At doubles, Wally Gustafson/Louise Lungstrom triumphed at the 1-spot and Kylie Soine/Taylor Olson at 3.

Winning points for MACCRAY were Kim Trulock at 3-singles and Heather Marcus/Belle Brynjulfson at 2-doubles, in 3 sets.

The 3-doubles duo of Avery Koosmann and Natasha Smith got the match-deciding point for the Thunder Hawks. It was the only point Montevideo got in doubles as the bulk of its points came from singles as Morgan Reidinger at No. 2, Ashley Hoehne at No. 3 and Tina Lipinski at No. 4 all won in straight sets

Danielle Clarke at 1-singles, Jordan Trotter/Jordan Glad at 1-doubles and Britanna Raddatz/Sandy Bartels at 2-doubles collected the three points for Yellow Medicine East.
