ST. CLOUD -- The Willmar Cardinals can't match the St. Cloud Tech Tigers skill level but they came out racquets swinging in a 7-0 loss in Central Lakes girls tennis on Thursday.

"We went at 'em," said coach Jim Anderson. "You can't just settle for getting the ball back against Tech."

The Tigers are led by middle-school sisters Taylor and Katelyn Tarrolly at the top of their line-up.

Maddy Oehrlein went 3 sets at 4-singles. Heather Horning/Kassy Lindo also played a strong match, sak Anderson.

The Tech players brought out the best in the Willmar players, including 1-singles Gabi Bierbaum who had long volleys with eighth-grader Taylor Tarrolly.

The Marshall match on Monday is moved to Oct. 1 at Marshall (4 p.m. start).

Willmar will host Brainerd on Tuesday.

Benson won three singles matches and came through in two doubles matches to down Morris/Chokio-Alberta 5-2 in a West Central Conference match on Thursday.

Kelly Saunders, Maggie Buyck and Raquel Curriel won their singles matches, and the doubles teams of Melanie Reese and Kelsey Rajewsky and Kendra Dingman and Megan Vergin surrendered just three games overall to pick up victories.

Abbie Olson at 2-singles and the 3-doubles team of Emily Moser and Elizabeth Schneider picked up the Tigers' points.

Ali McGraw picked up Litchfield's lone win with a 2-6, 6-3, 11-9 victory at 3-singles.

The Dragons play host to their invitational tournament beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.

(At Redwood Falls) -- Yellow Medicine East's singles teams came through in a big way to help the Sting defeat Worthington in a non-conference match played at a neutral site.

Danielle Clark, Rachel Christensen and Leah Gluth all pulled out victories, and the Sting doubles team of Britanna Raddatz and Jordan Trotter also claimed a three-set win.
