All six of the Cardinals’ wins were in straight sets, which included Cayle Hovland’s shutout at 1-singles. Jordyn Swoboda at 2-singles didn’t break much of a sweat, either, winning 6-2, 6-1.

“Cayle and Jordyn were too much for their opponents,” said Willmar coach Jim Anderson, “presenting a combination of well-place serves and hard-diving deep ground strokes.”

Amelia Amon moved from doubles to collect another point for Willmar by winning 6-3, 6-1 at 4-singles.

The Cardinals didn’t lose in doubles as Claire Schmitz/Hannah Kobenia at No. 1, Sydney Fischer/Erica Ellingson at No. 2 and Olivia Corneil/Karina Rice at No. 3 all winning in straight sets.

Up next for the Cardinals is tomorrow as they head east to play at the Monticello Triangular, along with Becker.
