Glacial Lakes Running Series expanding by 2
The Glacial Lakes Championship Running Series is now a 10-race series with the addition of a 30K race at Glenwood and a trail run at Sibley State Park.
One race has dropped out, the Ravioli Run at Grove City in August.
The roughly 20-mile run called the Minnewaska Warm-up on May 5 is billed as a lead-up to those training for a marathon later in the year. It becomes the longest race in the series, about eight more miles than the Green Lake Road Race at Spicer.
The Pat Boros 10K Trail Run is scheduled for Sept. 22 at Sibley State Park. The event honors the memory Pat Boros, a triathlete and youth fitness advocate who died during an event in 2004.
Willmar will again host two events: the Memorial Day/Law Day 5K on May 26 and the Foot Lake 4 on June 30. With the Fourth of July falling on a Wednesday, the Green Lake 12-miler is scheduled for the following Sunday, one day after the Litchfield Watercade four-mile run.
The annual Victory Run 5K at Prairie Woods Learning Center west of Spicer is scheduled for June 16. It is not a part of the Series.
At least three triathlons are scheduled locally (See below).
