ATWATER -- Gladys Eleanor Narragon, 87, of Atwater died Thursday at Sunnyview Assisted Living in Atwater.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Atwater at a later date.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Atwater Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She was born June 16, 1921, in Kandiyohi County to Chris and Emma (Swanson) Mattson. She grew up in the rural Atwater community and graduated from Atwater High School in 1939.
She married Lorin Narragon in 1939 and they made their home in the Atwater area. She worked as a meat wrapper for the Atwater Locker and Carlson Meats in Grove City and also as a cook at the Big A Restaurant.
She was a member of the Book Club and the Atwater Alumni. She often volunteered by helping the elderly in the Atwater community and collecting clothes for missions.
She is survived by her children: Vern Narragon of Atwater, Jerome Narragon of Bloomington and Kenneth Narragon of Atwater, Audrey (and LeRoy) Hoppke of Cascade, Wis.; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; a daughter: Judith Narragon; a grandson; and two siblings.
