Gladys L. Bestge, age 87, of Clara City, died Thursday evening, February 7, at the Clara City Care Center.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, at the Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. A private interment will be in the church cemetery. There is no visitation or reviewal. Memorials to the Clara City Care Center are preferred. Arrangements are with the Tri-County Funeral Home of Prinsburg.

Gladys Leona Bestge was born on the family farm near Sacred Heart on March 20, 1925, the daughter of George and Lena (Dannen) Caspers. She grew up in the Sacred Heart community and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1943. On March 19, 1948, Gladys was united in marriage to Fred Alvin Bestge. They lived and farmed northwest of Raymond their entire life. In 2010, Gladys moved into the Clara City Care Center. She was a life member of Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City and was active in bible study and numerous other womens organizations. Gladys enjoyed quilting, crocheting, crafts and traveling.

She is survived by her two children, Mary Jean (and Ron) Ryks of Prinsburg and Steve (and Charlyn) Bestge of Raymond; three grandchildren, Melissa (and Mike) Aaker of Willmar, Ross (and Melissa) Ryks of Alexandria and Joshua (and Jamie) Bestge of Raymond and seven great grandchildren, Nick and Erika Aaker, Wyatt and Dakota Ryks and Matthew, Ellie and Annalynn Bestge. Also surviving is one brother, Dalen (and Jan) Caspers of Clara City and one sister, Martha Leiser of Worthington, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred in 1980; and one sister, Tillie Meints.
