Golf: Willmar's Jacobson in finals at Minn. Players' Championships
INDEPENDENCE, Minn. -- Andy Jacobson, playing out of Willmar's Eagle Creek Golf Course, will play in the semifinals of the 34th Minnesota Golf Association Players' Championships today at Windsong Farm.
On Tuesday, Jacobson defeated Beau Hanson, of Detroit Lakes Country Club, in the match play tournament 3-and-2 to advance to the final four.
Jacobson will play Colton Buege, of Fox Hollow, at 7:40 p.m. today. Buege is a redshirt freshman player at the University of Minnesota. Tim Hamm, of Rush Creek, plays Robert Bell, of University, in the other semifinal. Bell also is a University of Minnesota player.
Jacobson opened the tournament in the Round of 64 with a 2-and-1 victory over Nicholas Olsgaard, of Village Green, and he followed that up with a 3-and-2 win over Jesse Larson, of LeSueuer, in the Round of 32.
In the Round of 16, Jacobson bested Dylan Gergen, of Southview, 3-and-2.
