SAUK RAPIDS - Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home Chapel in Sauk Rapids for Gordon D. Jerve, age 90, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Memorial Day at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Rev. Harvey Ehlers will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Pastor Gwen Bohlke will provide prayers of Christian Burial at 3:30 p.m. at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens in Montevideo, everyone is welcome. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.

Gordon was born April 21, 1923 in Big Bend Township (Chippewa County) to Ole & Laura (Laumb) Jerve. He married Lorraine Bauman on Nov. 21, 1945 at Montevideo Methodist Church. They lived in Montevideo until moving to St. Cloud in 1963. Gordon was a lineman for Northwestern Bell for 33 years, retiring in 1978. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Gordon then worked as a custodian for First United Methodist Church in St. Cloud. He enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, pheasant hunting, traveling, wintering in Mesa, AZ and summers at Otter Tail Lake. Gordon was a staunch Democrat and enjoyed visiting with others.

Survivors include his daughters and son, Nola (David) Zane of Willmar, Kay (Gary) Gapinski of Sauk Rapids, and Scott (Nancy) Jerve of Rice; sister, Edna Hull of Montevideo; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jerve of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Stephanie (David) Ousdigian of Hudson, WI and Adam Gapinski of Dexter, OR; great grandchildren, Hannah and Matthew Ousdigian; step great grandchildren, Rachel and Luke Ousdigian; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine on Nov. 4, 2007; brothers, Clarence, Orville, Arlo, Sander and Marvin Jerve; and sisters, Lucille Lomason, Avis Gallagher, and Gladys Andreas.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Good Shepherd Lutheran Foundation.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff and residents at The Good Shepherd Lutheran Home and St. Croix Hospice for the loving care and support they provided Gordon and his entire family.
