Gov. Dayton hosted live turkey honoring industry

ST. PAUL -- Gov. Mark Dayton took part in a long-standing Minnesota pre-Thanksgiving tradition Monday to bring a live turkey into his office and praise the state’s nation-leading turkey production status.

Agriculture Commissioner Dave Frederickson and leaders of the Minnesota turkey industry joined the governor.

The state’s 250 turkey farmers produce about 47 million birds a year. That provides 26,000 jobs and $800 million in economic activity, the governor’s office reported.
