Governor orders flags at half-staff in remembrance of Ryane Clark

SAINT PAUL -- Governor Tim Pawlenty has ordered all U.S. and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the state from sunrise until sunset on Sunday in honor and remembrance of Private First Class Ryane Clark of New London.

The Governor's order salutes Clark as a hero who died in his country's service on Oct. 4 in Shekhabad, Afghanistan.

Funeral services for Clark will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the New London-Spicer High School gymnasium.

He was a member of the 57th Sapper Company, 27th Engineer Battalion, 20th Engineer Brigade, U.S. Army. The 2007 NL-S high school graduate had enlisted in the National Guard in 2008, before joining the army.

States the Governor's order: "The State of Minnesota recognizes Private First Class Ryane G. Clark for his dedicated service to and sacrifice for the people of this country with our deepest gratitude, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and community.''
