DAWSON -- Grace Joann Lysholm, 89, of Dawson, died Sunday at Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Hanson and Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.
She was born Feb. 28, 1920, in Rockwell City, Iowa, to Henry and Lena (Oltmann) Deling. She was raised by her grandparents in southern Minnesota and attended country school through eighth grade.
She married Joseph Lysholm on Jan. 13, 1940. They lived in the Minneapolis area for two years and she worked at Tonka Toys and a furniture store. After moving back to Dawson, she was a housewife, worked as an egg candler at Swifts in Montevideo and Lende's Hatchery in Dawson. She also was a cook for 25 years at the VFW Club in Dawson and worked in the school kitchen for two years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, senior citizens and Grace Lutheran Church. She volunteered for the Senior Federation, nursing home, Meals on Wheels, and gave rides to church, shopping and doctor appointments. She lived at Pleasant View Apartments in Dawson for many years and entered Johnson Memorial Home in 2006.
She is survived by her two sons: James (and Alice) Lysholm of Omaha, Neb., and Ronald (and Betty) Lysholm of Bloomington; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one brother: Herman (and Earline) Deling of Ceylon.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977 and three siblings.
