GRANITE FALLS — A Granite Falls family is mourning the loss of their son-in-law, one of three South Dakota ranchers who died along with their pilot in a plane crash on Sunday in the western part of the state.

Nick Reimann, 33, of Ree Heights, S.D., was among those identified as a victim of the crash, which was discovered on Monday. His wife, Kyrstin, is a 1999 graduate of Yellow Medicine East High School and daughter of Ken and Linda Dahl, Granite Falls.

Nick and Kyrstin were married in 2008, said her father when reached by phone Tuesday in South Dakota. The two had initially met at a cattle show in Mitchell, S.D., but began dating later when they met again as college students. She is a graduate of the University of South Dakota.

Nick Reimann has operated the family’s Reimann Ranch in Ree Heights. Krysten has served as a physician’s assistant with an Indian Health Services clinic.

They are parents to two children: a son, Croix; and a daughter, Cannon.

According to published reports in South Dakota, a Piper PA-32 crashed after striking a wind turbine blade about 10 miles southwest of Highmore, which is east of Pierre.

The victims were identified as Nick Reimann, 33, of Ree Heights; Logan Rau, 25, of Java, S.D.; Brent Beitelspacher, 37, of Bowdice, S.D.; and their pilot, D.J. Fischer, 30, of Gettysburg, S.D.

They were reportedly returning from a cattle show in Texas.

The funeral for Reimann will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Armory in Miller, S.D. Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller.

Arrangements are with the Rembold Funeral Home, Miller, S.D.
