ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — U.S. Rep. Michelle Bachmann's surprise announcement that she won't seek a fifth term has her opponent saying that she "read the tea leaves."

Jim Graves is the Democrat who nearly beat Bachmann in November. He says he thinks Bachmann heard a message in last fall's close race.

Graves said in an interview on KARE-TV of Minneapolis on Wednesday that voters are looking for someone who has more of a business background and understands the economy. Graves is a businessman who built his wealth in the hotel business.

Graves was planning a second run against Bachmann. He says he has no idea who his new opponent will be.
