Groundwater area being created
BROOTEN — The public is invited to an open house Jan. 22 to learn more about a project to designate a groundwater management area in the Bonanza Valley watershed.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will host the event from 6 to 9 p.m. at BBE High School in Belgrade.
Minnesota’s groundwater use has increased over the last two decades. These increases may not be sustainable for continued economic growth. The DNR is establishing three groundwater management areas around the state to help communities and individuals in these areas better understand groundwater resources and plan for their future development.
Those attending the open house will have an opportunity to listen to presentations by DNR staff regarding the statewide Groundwater Management Program Draft Strategic Plan and the Bonanza Valley Groundwater Management project. DNR staff, along with representatives from other state agencies involved in groundwater management, will provide resource information and maps and be available to answer questions. For more informati
