Gymnastics: Cardinal gymnasts top New London-Spicer

WILLMAR -- The Willmar Cardinals hit all 5 beam routines and posted a season-high score of 141.275 in their Kennedy gym to defeat New London-Spicer Tuesday.

The Wildcats finished with 128.025 points.

Cassie Johnson and Abbey Weiler went 1-2 in all-around with bars winner Haley Stahl of NLS in third-place and Stephanie Thompson of Willmar fourth.

Thompson won both beam (9.325) and floor (9.55).

Johnson had an explosive vault to win with a 9.375, just ahead of Stahl's 9.25.

Weiler was top 3 in all four events as was Johnson.
