Gymnastics: Willmar takes title at Marshall

MARSHALL -- Kel-sey Jacobson finished second all-around and the Willmar Cardinals captured first place at the Marshall Invitational on Saturday.

Willmar had 134.45 points to 131.55 for runner-up New Ulm. Marshall was third with 124.9.

Jacobson was first on vault with a 9.4, second on floor with a 9.1 and third on beam with an 8.0. She had a 34.875 all-around score. Nikki McNair of Marshall won all-around in 36.225.

"We had a great effort in our last two events," said Willmar coach Larry Selchow. "Kelsey and Kaitlyn Lindblad were impressive the whole day."

Lindblad was third all-around in 34.275, including a second-place finish on beam and third on floor exercise.

Ashley Delp scored a 9.15 on vault, sticking her first attempt at a Tsukahara pike. With Abbey Weiler out after suffering a minor injury in warmups, Anissa Tallakson and Kelsey Blackwell filled in admirably.
