H-R male nominee: Aaron Johnson of New London-Spicer
FOOTBALL: After playing sparingly as a junior, Johnson became a dominant player as a senior and was an All-Area selection as an offensive lineman, helping to pave the way for the Wildcats to win the Class AAA state title. The Wildcats often ran behind Johnson en route to a 14-0 season. On defense, Johnson had 44 tackles, including two sacks, his senior year.
BASKETBALL: A two-year starter and letterwinner as a center, Johnson was named to the All-Area team his senior year after averaging 15 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. He shot 66 percent from the field as the Wildcats went 32-2 and won the Class AA state title. NLS was 55-11 in Johnson's two years as a starter. Johnson also earned all-conference honors twice.
TRACK: Johnson earned four letters in track, throwing the shot put and discus. He has improved steadily in each of his four years and finished first in the West Central North Conference in the shot put.
