H-R male nominee: Joel Bauman of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg
FOOTBALL: Bauman is the all-time rushing leader in the area and second all-time in the state with 7,409 yards. He also scored 74 touchdowns. He also set an area single-season rushing mark with 2,941 yards his junior year when KMS won the Class A state title. He started and lettered four years and was all-conference and All-Area three times.
WRESTLING: A five-time letterwinner, four-time state entrant and three-time all-conference wrestler. Bauman won state titles his junior and senior year at 189 pounds and finished third as a sophomore. He went 170-32 in his career with the Fighting Saints, including a 45-1 mark his senior year. He also helped the team win a state title his junior year and the team went 64-7 with him in the lineup in his career.
TRACK AND FIELD: Bauman lettered five years. He currently holds the Benson/KMS school record in the 400-meter run. He placed fourth in the state last spring in the 400. This season, he has posted the best area times in the 300-meter hurdles, winning the sub-section title and also the conference title so far.
