Habitat plans Litchfield, Meeker Co., Minn., repair projects
LITCHFIELD — Habitat of Humanity of West Central Minnesota says it will focus on two or three repair projects in Litchfield and Meeker County and will not build a home in Litchfield in 2013.
Habitat said non-availability of suitable lots or property on which to build influenced the decision.
Instead, Habitat will focus on providing two to three exterior Thrivent Builds Repairs and A Brush With Kindness projects in Litchfield and surrounding communities.
Habitat said it intends to partner with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans/Thrivent Builds to pursue constructing a home in 2014 in Litchfield and will continue to seek a lot for purchase or donation for this project.
Persons interested in making a donation of property are asked to call Joline at 320-231-2704. For more information, or to complete a pre-application for possible home ownership or both, visit www.habitatwcm.org or call 320-231-2704.
The application process for repair projects is open for limited income homeowners who are current with their mortgage payments, taxes, and insurance for work such as painting, stoop repairs/replacements, minor repair projects, landscaping and exterior door replacement.
Homeowners, if physically able, are required to provide eight hours of sweat equity and to make monetary payments, based on the cost of the repairs and their income, toward the repair project.
For more information, or to receive a pre-application or both, call Jessica at 320-231-2704 or stop at the office at 619 Benson Ave. S.W. in Willmar.
