Hancock first at Minnewaska Volleyball Invite

GLENWOOD -- Hancock edged Benson 27-25, 23-25, 15-8 in the championship match of the Minnewaska Volleyball Invite on Saturday.

Perham defeated Osakis 25-15, 26-24 for third place. Minnewaska topped Brandon-Evansville 25-12, 25-22 in the fifth-place match and New London-Spicer upended Ortonville 21-25, 25-23, 15-8 in the seventh-place match.

Benson was led by Emily Auch with 33 kills, seven ace blocks, four ace serves and 30 digs in the Braves' four matches. Rachel Bausman contributed 15 kills and 30 digs. Emily Landmark finished with 38 assists, five ace serves and 19 digs. Monica Lindblad blasted eight ace serves to go along with 10 kills and 19 digs. Emma Peterson added 29 digs and four ace serves and Natalie Mikkleson delivered 16 kills, 15 digs and two ace serves.

For Minnewaska, Lexi Amundson had 14 kills adn 23 digs and Callie Bergsrud 11 kills and four ace servers.
