Hancock girls lose in 2 OT's at state

MINNEAPOLIS - Maranatha Christian Academy spoiled Hancock's state title dreams on Friday, outlasting the Owls 60-57 in double overtime in the Class A semifinal at Target Center.

Hancock (27-3), which upset top-ranked Goodhue in the quarterfinals on Thursday, will play for third place today.

Illissa Koehl paced Hancock with 18 points before fouling out with 19 seconds left in the first overtime. Courtney Greiner had 16 points and Kendra Schmidgall 15.

Maranatha Christian Academy (22-9) will play either Mountain Iron-Buhl or Nicollet for the state championship today. The Mustangs were led by Josie Taggatz-Otz with 17 points.
