PRINSBURG- Harlan J. Boersma, age 89, of Prinsburg, died Thursday morning, January 17, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

Services will be held at 1 P.M., Thursday, January 24, at First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. The interment will be in the Holland Township Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg.

On January 2, 1924, Harlan J. Boersma was born in Holland Township in Prinsburg, MN to Benjamin and Henrietta (Ledeboer) Boersma. He grew up on the family farm in rural Prinsburg and attended the Prinsburg Christian School. On September 14, 1942 he was united in marriage to Angeline Slagter. They made their home north of Prinsburg where he farmed until his retirement in 1989. They enjoyed spending many winters in McAllen, Texas.

In 1996 he was united in marriage to Grace (Mulder) Watson. They lived in Renville and attended the Emden Christian Reformed church for several years and also wintered in Texas.

Harlan was baptized and made Profession of Faith at Prinsburg Christian Reformed Church where he was an active member his entire life. He served as a deacon, was a member of the Prinsburg Male Chorus and faithfully attended bible studies.

Harlan had many hobbies and talents and he enjoyed farming with his children and step-children, fishing, playing cards, golfing, bowling, singing in the Barbershop Choir and spending time with his many family and friends.

He is survived by his children: son: Allan (and RuthAnn) Boersma of Kerkhoven; daughter: Patricia (and Gerald) Lief of Willmar; daughter: Betty (and Dave) Ammermann of Clara City; grandchildren: DeWayne (and Ann) Boersma; Darlene (and Kevin) Roelofs; Denise (and Jeff) Dierenfield; Todd (and Beth) Lief; Michelle (and Jeff) Keller; Lindy (and Jason) Vander Eyk; Carrie Ammermann (and fiancé Jason Cappiello) and Michael Ammermann; 15 great grandchildren; a sister: Ethel Cunnigan of Kentwood, MI; a brother: Albert (and Betty) Boersma of Prinsburg and special friend: Gladys Bjur of Lake Lillian. He is also survived by step-daughters: Karen (and Roger) Krull, of Owatonna; Kathy (and Mike) House of Maple Plain and Janel Watson of Renville; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Angeline; wife: Grace; a son: Dennis; a sister: Gladys; sister-in-law LaVerne; step-son: Curt Watson and step-grandson: John Watson.
