Harlan Peterman Oct. 4, 1918 - June 18, 2009

ALEXANDRIA -- Harlan Vincent Peterman, 90, of Alexandria and formerly of Vesta, died Thursday at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Alexandria.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Underwood Township, Redwood County, to Herbert and Millie (Baker) Peterman. He attended school through the 10th grade and joined the United States Air Force.

He married Emma Kaheiki on Feb. 2, 1946, in Hilo, Hawaii. The couple moved to Hayward, Calif., in 1949 where he worked for the Naval Supply Center in Oakland, Calif. In 1972, they moved to Alexandria.

He is survived by his daughters: Emma Jane Peterman (and husband Ted Alt) of California and Shirley Ann (and Bob) Landon of Waite Park; one grandson; one great-grandson; brothers: Glen Peterman, Herbert Peterman, Donald Peterman; and sister: Carol Tollefson.

He was preceded in death by his wife; four brothers; and four sisters.
