Harriet Arnesen July 23, 1919 - May 21, 2009
WILLMAR -- Harriet B. Arnesen, 89, of Willmar, died Thursday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be in First Lutheran Norway Lake Cemetery in rural New London.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
She was born July 23, 1919, in rural New London and grew up near Norway Lake with her mother, Ella, and stepfather, Joseph Simonson.
She married Theodore C. "Ted" Arnesen on Sept. 10, 1938, in rural New London. They lived in the New London and Spicer area before moving to Willmar in the 1950s. She helped with her husband's carpenter/contractor business, managed the resort they owned on Lake Minnewaska in Glenwood for five years, and worked for the school lunch program in Willmar.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar and was an active volunteer in her church and in the hospital auxiliary.
She is survived by her children: Beverly (and Darryl) Jacobson of St. Cloud, LeRoy Arnesen of Plymouth, and Judy (and John) Payne of Wayzata; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother: Justin (and Shirley) Simonson of Willmar.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, an infant daughter on Nov. 18, 1940, and one brother.
