BUFFALO LAKE -- Harriet Ruth Becker, 88, of Buffalo Lake died Monday at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake. Burial will be in the Zion Evangelical Cemetery in Buffalo Lake.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church and for one hour prior to service. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home in Hector.
She was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Grafton Township, Sibley County, to Fred and Emma (Mueller) Boehlke. She grew up in Grafton Township. She first attended rural school and graduated from Stewart High School.
She married Lowell Becker on May 21, 1944. They made their home in Buffalo Lake where they owned and operated Becker's Shoe Store. In 1954, Harriet opened a beauty shop in Buffalo Lake. She retired in 1986.
She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake. She also belonged to a bowling league and was a member of Oakdale Golf Course. Throughout the years, she was also involved in the community theater and a grand marshal of the Buffalo Lake Days celebration.
She is survived by her children: Lowell (and Jennie) Becker Jr. of Cambridge and Barbara (and Tim) Dickie of West St. Paul; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and siblings: Ray Boehlke of Stillwater, Russell (and Donna) Boehlke of Fort Collins, Colo., and Flora Belle Hendrickson of Sauk Centre.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters.
