Harriette C. Peterson

SPICER - Harriette C. Peterson, age 92, of Spicer, died Saturday evening, July 27, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 1, at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake in rural New London. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 PM, Wednesday at the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer and at the church one hour prior to the services.
Harriette C. (Knutson) Peterson was born on May 11, 1921, in Swift County, Kerkhoven Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Emma (Overboe) and Eddie Knutson. She grew up in the Camp Lake area near Swift Falls and graduated from Brooten High School in 1939. She continued her education and attended teacher training in Glenwood Normal School for one year. She taught school for two years at District 95 school near Brooten. On July 13, 1941, Harriette was married to Clarence Helmer Peterson and they made their home on the farm south of Brooten. They farmed there for 42 years and raise their family of three children. She took pride in being a farmers wife and taking care of her family and home. Harriette was also very active in her church and community, taking every opportunity to be involved and helping those that needed it. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, growing flowers, baking and canning.
She is survived by three children, Shirley (and Ted) Alm of LasVegas, Nevada, John (and Janet) Peterson of Casper, Wyoming and Al (and Ellen) Peterson of Brooten. Also surviving are six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and two brothers, Earl (and Lorraine) Knutson of Terrace and Howard (and Paullette) Knutson of Anchorage, Alaska, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Clarence in 1983), daughter-in-law (LeeAnn Peterson in 2009), one brother (LeRoy Knutson) and one sister (Verna Swenson).
