Harry Docken Nov. 2, 1911- Jan. 31, 2009
CLARA CITY --Harry Docken, 97, of Clara City, formerly of Maynard, died Saturday at the Clara City Care Center.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Maynard Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the afternoon and evening today at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
He was born Nov. 2, 1911, in Maynard to Bernt and Melvina (Gjerde) Docken. He graduated from Maynard High School in 1930 and then attended Dunwoody Institute for a year.
He married Frances Marholz on Nov. 23, 1932, in Montevideo. They lived in Maynard until moving to Clara City in 2001. He worked as a blacksmith until 1961 and then worked for Thorstad Construction until his retirement. He and his wife also restored furniture for many years.
He was a member of Maynard Lutheran Church and was a past member of the Maynard Fire Department.
He is survived by five children: Gordon (and Millie) Docken of Rosemount, Douglas (and Judy) Docken of Waconia, Mary Jo (and David) Prekker of Clara City, Lyle (and Linda) Docken of Maynard and Mark (and Jane) Docken of Willmar; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2006; an infant son: Dennis; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
