BIG BEND -- Harry Meredith Barduson, 85, of Big Bend, died Tuesday at the Appleton Area Health Care Center.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born June 17, 1923, in Chippewa County to Thideman and Hattie (Nordby) Barduson. He attended school at District 72 and graduated from Appleton High School in 1941.
He married Arlys Welker on July 18, 1948, in Benson. They farmed outside of Danvers and raised many varieties of chickens. He served as treasurer of the West Bank Township for 41 years, was a member of the Swift County Fair Board for 30 years, and worked with the Horticulture area at the fair for more than 40 years. He was a member of Big Bend Lutheran Church and held council positions of vice president, deacon, head usher, and board of education. He was a club leader Big Bend Aces 4-H Club for 25 years.
He is survived by his children: Karen (and Michael) Kellner of Benson, Sandra (and Rodney) Lye of Danvers, Nancy (and John) Fridgen of Wheaton, Pamela Olsen (and Kevin Rose) of Salem, Ore., and Thomas (and Tammy) Barduson of Danvers; eight grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; two stepgreat-granddaughters; siblings: Marie (and Bill) Welker of Willmar, Robert (and Angie) Barduson of St. Paul and Odell (and Barb) Barduson of Hastings.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
