Harvey J. Bendix

MONTEVIDEO -- Harvey John Bendix, 88, of Montevideo, formerly of the Echo/Granite Falls area, died Sunday at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Granite Falls.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Montevideo.
He was born July 6, 1920, in rural Henning to John and Anna Bendix. He grew up near Henning and Echo. He spent one year at Dunwoody Technical Institute in Minneapolis, studying auto mechanics.
He married Ida Pochardt on Dec. 12, 1948, in Marshall. They farmed near Echo for several years. In 1958, they moved to Boyd where they farmed until he retired in 1984 and moved to Granite Falls. They moved to a townhome in Montevideo in February 2006.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; three children: Beverly (and Marshall) Herfindahl of Boyd, Connie (and Daniel) Schmid of Stillwater, and Larry (and Sue) Bendix of Boyd; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother: Harold Bendix; and one sister: Bernice DuPree.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
