Hattie Louise Ronning was born on August 15, 1918 in Ackley, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Hippen) Bestge. When she was a child, her family moved to the Raymond area. She attended Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. Her School days were spent in District 40 country school and then she attended Raymond High School. She lettered in basketball and also enjoyed playing "kittenball".

Hattie met Irvin Ronning at a town baseball game in 1936 and they were married on April 16, 1937. Following their marriage, they moved north of Clara City on the Molenaar farm where Irvin was employed. They moved to several other farms, settling on the Knott farm northwest of Raymond. This was where Hattie survived a house explosion in 1957.

Hattie and Irvin enjoyed farming, gardening, their many friends and, of course, the antics of their seven children. Hattie also enjoyed working with the many farm animals, especially the chickens.

Hattie was preceded in death by her husband in 1995 and her son, Roger in 2011.

She is survived by her children: Ronald (and Jane) Ronning of Willmar, Jerry (and Sharon) Ronning of Richfield, Randy (and Joyce) Ronning of Willmar, Michael (and Jeanine) Ronning of Maple Grove, Janelle Corwin of Tucson, AZ and Renee (and Douglas) Magnuson of Willmar; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.

Her sense of humor, sharp wit, and the "look" will be sadly missed.
