Hattie Sagedahl May 14, 1915 - Dec. 28, 2013
BROOTEN - Hattie Sagedahl, 98, of Brooten, died Saturday, December 28th at Belgrade Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the church and also one hour prior to the service. Hattie Sagedahl was born on May 14, 1915 in Gilman, the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Golla) Danlek. She grew up near Gilman where she attended country grade school. In 1930 she moved to Brooten. On September 13, 1936, Hattie was united in marriage to Henry Sagedahl. To this union two sons and a daughter were born. They made their home in Brooten where Hattie worked in local restaurants and provided cleaning services to local businesses. She did not retire until she was in her late 70s. Together, Hattie and Henry were able to share in 36 years of marriage before Henrys death on April 14, 1973. Hattie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in circle. She was also a member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed embroidering dish towels and was well known for daily walks uptown, wearing her red jacket and white stocking cap, and stopping to pick up litter along the way.
She is survived by her children, Dennis (Deanna) Sagedahl of Eagan and Betsey Isane of Brooten; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; two sisters, Frances Blank and Selma Robek and sister-in-law, Anna Jedlicka. Hattie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; son, Desmond; sisters, Sophie Halvorson and Ann Carson; brothers, Zelmer and Sylvester Jedlicka and son-in-law, Olav Isane.
