According to Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner, Andrew James Hoglund was arrested and is being held in the county jail. The incident started when a 76-year-old Brooten woman called 911 around 8 p.m. to report that an intoxicated male knocked on her front door and stumbled into her home when she answered the door. The woman pushed the man outside and locked the door before locking herself in an upstairs bathroom to call 911. While she was on the phone with dispatch, she heard breaking glass and someone walking up her interior stairs. Officers who responded to the home were unable to locate the man.

A short time later, a delivery driver in the area reported he had found a man sitting in the driver's seat of his truck and gave the man a ride to a local business. That's where a sheriff's deputy located the man, who matched the description given by the woman.

Hoglund's 1997 Chevy pickup was later found stuck in the ditch near the woman's residence. Assisting the sheriff's office were the State Patrol, Belgrade Police and Pope County Sheriff's Office.
