Hazardous weather outlook issued for western Minnesota today
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for western Minnesota this afternoon and evening.
Counties affected include Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Meeker, Pope, Redwood, Renville, Stearns, Swift and Yellow Medicine.
A strong area of low pressure is moving across the western Dakotas, sending a cold front into western Minnesota and producing widespread severe weather by late this afternoon. According to the National Weather Service, the main threats are damaging straight-line winds, hail and possible tornadoes.
The most severe storms are likely to occur north and west of a line from Redwood Falls through Litchfield and St. Cloud and north to Lake Mille Lacs. Isolated tornadoes are possible to the south and east.
